William Kamwabwa, a 16-year-old from Malawi, invented a wind-powered energy source to provide electricity for his community. Despite dropping out of school due to financial constraints, he used his passion for repairing electronics and his local library resources to develop a windmill.

Overcoming ridicule and a lack of resources, William’s persistence led to the creation of five functional windmills, including a 37-foot-tall one that powers a local school. His invention provides electricity and water to his community, proving that innovation can thrive even in challenging circumstances, and highlighting the resourcefulness of African youth.
